[People News] A video has gone viral showing the brutal treatment of citizens by public security and special police sent by the local government in Jiangyou, Sichuan, as they sought justice for a bullied 14-year-old girl. Concurrently, a lawyer in Changsha, Hunan, recently live-streamed on Douyin discussing 'Can police hit ordinary citizens?' and many netizens responded with '可以' (yes), which was highly sarcastic.

According to reports from Liberty Times, 'Changsha Lawyer Liu Dazhuang', who frequently shares legal knowledge on Douyin, posed the question during his live broadcast on the 5th: 'Can police hit ordinary citizens?'

He confidently replied, 'Of course not, police absolutely cannot hit ordinary citizens.'

He elaborated, 'We all know that if an ordinary citizen injures someone to the level of minor injury (second degree) or causes more serious consequences, they will face criminal responsibility, be sentenced, and possibly go to prison. Similarly, if a police officer hits an ordinary citizen and causes them to suffer minor injuries (second degree) or worse, that police officer will also commit a crime, face sentencing, and, according to the Administrative Punishment Law, will lose their public office.'

The lawyer also urged that if someone is indeed assaulted by the police, they should run to a location with surveillance cameras and immediately report it to the police.

As the lawyer explained, a flood of netizens filled the comments in the live stream with the word '可以' (yes).

Some individuals responded, "Haven't you seen the recent videos from Jiangyou?" "The videos I've watched lately seem fine, and they are quite intense!" "If you were clever, you would turn off the recorder." "Photography is not allowed here." "Stop talking, I can't hold it in any longer." "This is hilarious." "By that time, the surveillance cameras will surely be broken." "Surveillance tactics are compromised." "The comedic highlight of this live stream is that after being beaten by the police, they called the police themselves." "Calling the police in front of the police, that's impressive."

From the videos that have emerged overseas, it is evident that the people of Jiangyou are protesting against the violent law enforcement actions of a large number of public security and armed police, who are seen wielding sticks, spraying pepper spray indiscriminately, roughly dragging protesters away, and forcibly loading them onto pig transport trucks to remove them from the protest site.  △
