[People News] The well-known data website “Visual Capitalist” recently released the results of a survey conducted by the brand management organization “Reputation Lab,” listing the “international reputation” rankings of 60 major global economies. Taiwan entered the list for the first time — and immediately ranked 22nd.

According to the Liberty Times, Visual Capitalist published the survey results on October 26. The website noted that the data comes from Reputation Lab’s RepCore Nations 2025 study, which surveyed citizens of the G7 countries (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States), asking them to rate other countries based on trust, admiration, respect, and overall image.

In the rankings, Switzerland remains firmly in first place, continuing to earn global acclaim for its long-standing neutrality, quality governance, and high standard of living. Canada and Norway ranked second and third, respectively; both countries’ inclusiveness and leadership in environmental protection have also earned them strong reputations. Ranked fourth through tenth were Sweden, Finland, Denmark, New Zealand, Japan, the Netherlands, and Ireland.

In contrast, the United States experienced a significant decline this year — dropping from 30th place in 2024 to 48th in 2025. This change is mainly attributed to shifts in U.S. trade policies and attitudes toward international cooperation, which have led to doubts about its political and diplomatic reliability. Meanwhile, China remains near the very bottom at 57th, unchanged from last year, and Russia has been ranked last for the second consecutive year.

Notably, Taiwan was not included in last year’s ranking, making this its first appearance among the “60 major economies.” Taiwan performed well, ranking in the upper-middle position at 22nd place — just below Germany (20th) and France (21st), and ahead of Poland (23rd) and Thailand (24th). △
