[People News] On June 12, the body of Re Di, a high-ranking official of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), was cremated at the Babaoshan Cemetery in Beijing. Xi Jinping, the top leader of the CCP, along with Premier Li Qiang and all seven members of the Standing Committee, attended the farewell ceremony. Observers noted that this marked Xi Jinping's second appearance at Babaoshan Cemetery within just four days, the first being for the funeral of former Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xu Qiliang.
According to The Epoch Times, citing authoritative sources, while Xi Jinping currently holds nominally the highest power, his actual influence has significantly diminished. Reports indicate that over the past year, Xi has made several attempts to reclaim his dominant position, even resorting to drastic measures, but all have ended in failure. At present, he is merely 'playing a role,' continuing to present himself as the top leader publicly, while real power is being wielded by behind-the-scenes forces.
Insiders have pointed out that CCP elders such as Wen Jiabao and Zhang Youxia have quietly emerged as key figures shaping the CCP's political landscape. Preparations for a power transition within the CCP began as early as last April and are now nearing completion.
Similar to Xu Qiliang's funeral, Re Di's funeral also displayed unusual occurrences. CCTV's news footage, after scanning the wreaths sent by the seven Standing Committee members and Vice President Han Zheng, deliberately lingered on the wreath sent by former CCP leader Hu Jintao, pausing at Hu Jintao's name for a moment. Analysts believe this was not a coincidence but a deliberate attempt to emphasise Hu Jintao's unusual status in the current political context.
In a prior statement to The Epoch Times, Shen Mingshi, a researcher at the Taiwan National Defense Security Research Institute, remarked, "The inclusion of Hu Jintao's name in Xu Qiliang's funeral implicitly conveys the notion that the highest authority should, in some sense, belong to Hu Jintao, which is why his name must be mentioned."
Multiple sources indicate that Xi Jinping's resignation is now a settled matter, with the new leadership of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) accelerating its strategic planning while taking strict measures to prevent a backlash from Xi's faction. Commentator Xiao Shuoji cited sources claiming that there is a consensus within the CCP to have Xi Jinping step down for health or other reasons, with a new leader set to take over. Externally, this power transition will be portrayed as a gradual "scripted performance" to create the appearance of a smooth handover.
Recent observations suggest that the high-level politics of the CCP is undergoing a subtle yet critical transformation, with Xi Jinping's "loss of real power" appearing increasingly inevitable, and a new political order is on the verge of emerging. △
