Xi Jinping Has Lost His Grip on Power, and Putin Looks Down on Him

[People News] Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a phone call to U.S. President Donald Trump, inadvertently revealing that Xi Jinping is no longer the dominant figure in the Chinese Communist Party.

June 14 marks the birthday of U.S. President Trump, and Putin warmly called to wish him a happy 79th birthday. The two leaders spoke for nearly an hour.

On that day, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to announce that Putin had called him to congratulate him on his birthday, and they discussed the conflict between Israel and Iran for about 50 minutes. Trump, born on June 14, 1946, celebrated his 79th birthday on that date.

Trump noted that both he and Putin agree that the war in Iraq should come to an end, but he also remarked that 'the Russia-Ukraine war should also end.'

The Kremlin confirmed the conversation between the two leaders, stating that they expressed satisfaction with the personal relationship they have developed, which enables them to communicate sincerely and pragmatically in order to address urgent bilateral and international issues. They also referenced the camaraderie between the U.S. and Russia during World War II.

Furthermore, reports from online sources suggest that the opening remarks between Trump and Putin included congratulations from Putin on the birth of Trump's 11th grandchild, along with wishes for good health for Trump's daughter and grandchild! Trump had returned from the Middle East specifically to visit his newly born grandchild, and it is said that he was overjoyed at the arrival of this new addition to the family!

However, on June 15, the day after, which is Xi Jinping's birthday, Putin did not call Zhongnanhai to speak with Xi as he had in previous years. It appears that Putin intentionally 'forgot' the birthday of his 'old friend' Xi Jinping. One can picture Xi Jinping, feeling like a neglected mistress, sitting beside the small tea table in 'Chunyi Zhai' at Zhongnanhai, anxiously stretching his neck in hopes of receiving a call from his foreign old friend. As of now, there have been no reports from official Chinese media indicating that Xi Jinping received a call from Putin.

According to Chinese state media, the current high level of Sino-Russian relations is primarily 'dependent on the strategic leadership of the two heads of state.' 'In recent years, the two leaders have engaged in frequent interactions, taking high-speed trains together, watching football matches together, and celebrating birthdays together, creating many friendly stories and establishing a deep personal friendship.'

On June 15, 2023, Xi Jinping's 70th birthday, Putin sent a congratulatory message to Xi, wishing him a happy birthday.

On June 15, 2022, nearly four months after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Putin called Xi and expressed birthday wishes to him.

On Xi Jinping's 66th birthday in 2019, Putin congratulated him in person. On that day, before attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in Tajikistan, Putin visited Xi's hotel to celebrate his birthday, presenting him with Russian ice cream and a birthday cake inscribed with 'Six Six Great Smoothness,' to which Xi Jinping reciprocated with Chinese tea.

On June 15, 2018, Xi Jinping called Putin as scheduled, and Putin congratulated him on his birthday.

On the same day in 2013, Xi Jinping spoke with Putin on the phone, and Putin congratulated him on his birthday.

For Xi Jinping, who firmly believes in the concept of 'the East rising and the West declining', there is an urgent need to harness Russia's strength in an attempt to alter global rules. Xi has expressed his warm birthday wishes to Putin on several occasions. For instance, in October 2013, during the APEC summit in Bali, which coincided with Putin's 61st birthday, Xi personally presented a birthday cake to him. Following the meeting, the two celebrated together with sausages and vodka. Media reports indicate that Putin notably remarked at the time: 'I have not established such a relationship or made similar arrangements with any foreign colleague, but I have done so with Chairman Xi.'

If Putin genuinely considers Xi a 'good friend', the rampant rumors regarding Xi Jinping's loss of power, both domestically and internationally, make it particularly significant that if Putin were to congratulate Xi on his birthday, it would be akin to offering a lifeline to Xi, who is currently in a difficult position, and would represent the best support for him. However, Putin opted to ignore Xi's birthday entirely, making no acknowledgment whatsoever. By publicly snubbing Xi Jinping in this manner, is Putin intentionally signalling to the outside world that Xi has lost his real power and is no longer regarded as important, indicating that Beijing has changed its leadership and turned a new page?

Furthermore, Putin's disregard for Xi Jinping raises the question of whether the so-called 'limitless' friendship between China and Russia, frequently mentioned by both leaders in the past, has now expired and become obsolete.

Additionally, on June 9, a U.S. media outlet reported, citing a confidential internal document from the Federal Security Service (FSB) obtained by the online organization 'Ares Leaks', that the FSB had initiated a secret counterintelligence project codenamed 'Entente-4' just days before the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022, designating the Chinese Communist Party as a key target for prevention.

Although Russia and China officially continue to present themselves as 'comprehensive strategic cooperative partners', the FSB has explicitly designated the intelligence community of the Chinese Communist Party as 'enemies'. This move highlights the deep-seated distrust that exists between the intelligence systems of the two nations. △
