Antofagasta CEO says context of Trump copper tariffs could help U.S. project

SANTIAGO (Reuters) -Copper miner Antofagasta sees opportunity for its planned copper project in the United States in the context of 50% tariffs on the metal imposed by the Trump administration, CEO Ivan Arriagada said at an event on Thursday.

Chilean Mining Minister Aurora Williams, speaking alongside Arriagada, said the government had not yet received precise information about how the copper tariffs would be implemented. Chile is the world's biggest copper producer.
