[People News] The discussions between U.S. President Trump and Russian President Putin have drawn significant international attention. On the eve of their talks, Trump mentioned in an interview with Fox News that Xi Jinping had assured him he would not attack Taiwan during his presidency. Earlier, CNN released a recording in which Trump reportedly told Xi that if he attacked Taiwan, he would bomb Beijing, leaving Xi Jinping in shock.

In an interview with Fox News on August 15, Trump stated that during his presidency, world leaders would never attempt actions similar to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, including Xi Jinping.

Trump asserted that his firm diplomatic stance made it difficult for world leaders to challenge the international order. He emphasised, "As long as I am in office, I do not believe such actions will occur," and revealed, "Chairman Xi (Xi Jinping) told me that as long as I am president, he will never do such a thing."

In early July, CNN reported on a leaked audio recording in which Trump recounted at a fundraising event in New York and Florida last year that he had threatened to "blow up Moscow" to deter Russian President Putin from attacking Ukraine. Trump stated, "I told Putin, 'If you invade Ukraine, I will smash Moscow to pieces. I have no choice.'" Putin then responded, 'I don't believe you.' But he probably believes me 10%.

Trump later asserted that he had delivered a similar warning to Xi Jinping, cautioning that if Beijing invaded Taiwan, the United States would respond by bombing Beijing. Xi Jinping reportedly replied, 'Beijing! You want to bomb?' Trump responded, 'I have no choice.' He noted that at that moment, Xi Jinping did not fully believe him, stating, 'He only believed 10%; he only needed to believe 10%, even 5% was sufficient.'

On June 22, the U.S. military initiated 'Operation Midnight Hammer,' deploying seven B-2 stealth bombers to assist Israel in targeting three Iranian nuclear facilities, including the Fordow underground uranium enrichment site.

Akiyoshi Yabuki, the executive director of the Indo-Pacific Strategic Institute, told the Liberty Times at the time that Trump's actions had made it clear to the Chinese Communist Party that his earlier statement, 'If Xi Jinping takes military action against Taiwan, I will order the bombing of Beijing,' was not mere rhetoric!

Yabuki candidly remarked, 'For a dictatorial regime that violates human rights, for a rogue state that supports terrorism and often speaks without accountability, peace means taking decisive action. Only force can halt violence, and strength can deter tyranny. As President Trump stated, 'Peace through strength.'

Observers believe that Xi Jinping's commitment to Trump not to attack Taiwan during his term is likely motivated by a fear that the Trump administration would respond with bombings in Beijing, similar to its actions in Iran. △
