WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The U.S. Justice Department filed a lawsuit on Thursday against the city of Boston, alleging that its sanctuary city rules interfere with the federal government's enforcement of immigration laws.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Boston, named the city of Boston, Mayor Michelle Wu, the Boston Police Department and its police commissioner as defendants.
The lawsuit is the latest action by Republican President Donald Trump's administration against cites and states governed by Democrats.
