[People News] The Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China concluded this afternoon (29th), revealing a lengthy list of purges in its communiqué.

As reported by Xinhua News Agency this evening, the plenary session was attended by 162 Central Committee members and 117 alternate members, totalling 279 participants.

In contrast, there were originally 205 Central Committee members and 171 alternate members, making a total of 376. Thus, the attendance at this plenary session represented approximately 74% of the total.

The meeting reviewed and approved the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection's report concerning serious disciplinary and legal violations by Ma Xingrui, Lan Tianli, Liu Jianchao, Wang Lixia, Jin Zhuanglong, Lei Fanpei, Yi Huiman, Wang Xiangxi, Sun Shaocheng, Li Yunze, Fei Dongbin, Wu Shenghua, Yu Jianfeng, Yuan Jie, Zhang Zhongyang, Wen Gang, Jin Donghan, and Fang Hongwei. Additionally, it reviewed and approved the Central Military Commission's report on serious disciplinary and legal violations by Zhang Youxia, Liu Zhenli, Wang Renhua, Liu Qingsong, Huang Ming, Li Qiaoming, Li Wei, Zhang Hongbing, Wang Haijiang, Zhang Lin, Wang Peng, Liu Faqing, Yang Cheng, Zhong Shaojun, Zhao Xiaozhe, and Fang Yongxiang.

The meeting confirmed the earlier decision made by the Central Political Bureau to expel Ma Xingrui, Zhang Youxia, Liu Zhenli, Lan Tianli, Liu Jianchao, Wang Lixia, Jin Zhuanglong, Lei Fanpei, Yi Huiman, Wang Xiangxi, Sun Shaocheng, Wang Renhua, Liu Qingsong, Huang Ming, Li Qiaoming, Li Wei, Zhang Hongbing, Wang Haijiang, Zhang Lin, Wang Peng, Liu Faqing, Yang Cheng, Zhong Shaojun, Zhao Xiaozhe, Fei Dongbin, Wu Shenghua, Yu Jianfeng, Yuan Jie, Zhang Zhongyang, Wen Gang, Jin Donghan, Fang Hongwei, and Fang Yongxiang from the Party, while also revoking Li Yunze's internal party position.

As a result, the Fifth Plenary Session addressed a total of 34 members of the Central Committee, confirming that 33 of them were expelled from the Party.

According to incomplete statistics from the Dajiyuan, over the past year, 33 members of the Central Committee have been officially reported as having fallen from grace or been removed from their roles as representatives of the National People's Congress. Additionally, at least 25 others have gone missing, most of whom were not publicly announced as dismissed.

Independent commentator Du Zheng previously wrote in Taiwan's 'Shang Bao' that the members of the 20th Central Committee, who were 'personally promoted and vetted' by Xi Jinping, have all fallen from grace, which directly undermines his authority.

The plenary session elected Zhang Shengmin as a member of the Central Political Bureau.

Zhang Shengmin previously served as the Secretary of the Central Military Commission's Discipline Inspection Commission. He was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission during the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th CPC in October last year.

Among the initial seven members of the 20th Central Military Commission, five have already fallen from grace, including Military Commission Vice Chairman Zhang Youxia, He Weidong, and Military Commission members Li Shangfu, Liu Zhenli, and Miao Hua. Currently, only Xi Jinping and Zhang Shengmin remain.△
