On September 19, well-known human rights advocate and film producer Jason Jones, in a recent exclusive interview, issued a warning: the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is launching a cultural and religious infiltration war against the United States and the world. [People News] Well-known human rights advocate and film producer Jason Jones, in a recent exclusive interview, issued a warning: the CCP is launching a cultural and religious infiltration war against the United States and the world. This campaign is not only quietly unfolding in Hollywood but also, through a secret agreement signed with the Vatican, is reshaping the global landscape of religious freedom.
According to a report by Ottawa-based journalist Liang Yao, Jones is the producer of the films Bella (2006) and The Stoning of Soraya M. (2008). These works, themed on family, faith, and human rights, have received international acclaim. He founded the “Movie to Movement” website, dedicated to producing and sharing good films and promoting social justice and cultural awakening through visual storytelling. He believes storytelling is a force that can change the world and emphasizes that films should be rooted in humanity, faith, and values.
Hollywood: The CCP’s Cultural War Frontline
Jones believes the CCP’s infiltration of Hollywood is not merely economic manipulation but a global cultural war. He warned that the CCP is attempting to strip people worldwide of their right to express their culture and traditions through financial leverage and narrative control.
He said CCP infiltration of Hollywood not only affects the United States but also endangers the cultural foundations of peoples around the globe. He stressed that filmmakers must safeguard local storytelling and not allow the CCP to become the “gatekeeper” or sponsor of the film industry—otherwise, the consequences would be devastating. He said that just as the CCP launched the Cultural Revolution in China to sever people’s connection to their own civilization, they are now infiltrating Hollywood in the same way to reshape Western stories.
“Through taking over Hollywood, the CCP hopes to secretly reshape Western stories. This is actually a continuation of the Cultural Revolution. But this time, it’s not just robbing the West of its rights—it’s robbing the great traditions and heritages of all the peoples of the world,” he said. “I think it’s important that we keep CCP tentacles away from the tools we use to tell stories—whether studios, distributors, or theaters.”
As an example, he noted that the film Red Dawn originally depicted China as America’s main threat, but under Chinese pressure, the antagonist was changed to North Korea. This “absurd rewrite” reflects CCP control over content. He also criticized Disney for collaborating with the CCP to film Mulan, which was shot in Xinjiang, where “re-education camps” reportedly hold large numbers of Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities.
The Vatican: Battleground for Religious Freedom
At the same time, Jones strongly criticized the secret agreement between the CCP and the Vatican. He argued that allowing Beijing to intervene in Church personnel decisions is not diplomacy but surrender. He also delved into the Vatican’s latest moves, mainstream media’s neglect of religious issues, and his upcoming creative projects.
Speaking about U.S.-Vatican relations, Jones said he had direct conversations with current U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican Brian Burch and believed the most important task was to end the secret agreement between the CCP and the Vatican. He said the agreement has led to the persecution of Chinese Catholics, including the disappearance of 15 bishops, the imprisonment of prominent believer Jimmy Lai, and the house arrest of Cardinal Joseph Zen.
Jones called on the Pope to make a clear stand that Christian faith cannot be bought by any regime at any cost. He said Ambassador Burch “understands that the most important thing the Trump administration can do to make an impact is to break the CCP deal. This deal is absurd. We would never allow President Trump to pick America’s bishops, so why would we allow a revolutionary, atheistic regime to pick ours?”
Jones sharply criticized the secret agreement between the CCP and the Vatican. He said bluntly: “Handing over the right to appoint bishops to Beijing is not diplomacy—it’s capitulation.” He emphasized that freedom of faith should never be a bargaining chip in political deals. “When you silence the Church, you are silencing the conscience of humanity.”
He further stated: “There are no circumstances under which it is acceptable to hand the keys of the Church to a regime built on atheism and hostile to faith.”
Regarding the state of the underground church in China, Jones said: “The underground church is being erased by the CCP—not because they lack faith, but because they have been abandoned.” He called on the international community to recognize this reality and provide real support. He stressed this is not only solidarity with persecuted Catholics but also with Falun Gong, Uyghurs, and all oppressed groups under CCP rule.
Papal Shift—Possibility of Rejecting Renewal of CCP Agreement
In July of this year, Pope Leo XIV, in his first interview after being elected, said he might be open to revising the controversial Vatican-China agreement in the future and revealed he was in dialogue with persecuted Chinese Catholics to weigh the Vatican’s policy toward Beijing.
Jones sees this as a sign of a positive shift in the Church’s real-world approach. “This is not just a change in thought—it’s a pragmatic signal of hope,” he said.
Jones believes the public underestimates the Vatican’s role in international affairs. “Intelligence agencies and diplomatic departments know the Church’s influence, but ordinary people often don’t,” he said. He argued that totalitarian regimes fear any institution pointing to transcendent truth because it threatens ideological control. He cited Falun Gong as an example: “The CCP knows that Falun Dafa points not only to the past but also to higher realms, revealing transcendent truth. Any institution or community pointing to this kind of transcendent truth is a threat to authoritarian ideology, especially those that deny such truth and brutally mistreat humanity.”
Media Silence and the Power of Faith Narratives
Jones criticized mainstream media for neglecting religion and diplomacy. He said: “Human beings are storytellers by nature. We long for connection with the Creator, and we long for connection with our neighbors.” He believes stories rooted in spiritual elevation and community love can truly move people. “The real challenge is: how can Hollywood keep making money when it has already lost touch with human nature?”
Jones criticized mainstream media’s severe underreporting on religious faith and diplomatic issues. He praised The Epoch Times and New Tang Dynasty Television as rare exceptions that truthfully reflect humanity’s religious dimension.
He said that if media could truly focus on the needs and spiritual world of “living human beings,” they could create deeper and more resonant content.
Jones revealed that he is about to release three new films and a new book. The works include: the Afghan people trapped by past traumas; a Spanish retelling of a Hemingway story; and a project showcasing the beauty of Chinese culture and civilization, with hopes for its revival in the future.
He said these works will continue his consistent creative philosophy—awakening humanity, faith, and hope through storytelling. He invited supporters of the Church and those opposing persecution to visit vulnerablepeopleproject.com.
He founded The Vulnerable People Project, dedicated to protecting the world’s most vulnerable groups, and called on the international community to focus on religious freedom and humanitarian crises. Jones’s human rights work spans multiple regions worldwide, including launching relief efforts after the Afghanistan withdrawal crisis to aid starving children and trapped families, and consistently speaking out against persecution and religious repression. △
