[People News] The case of the mysterious Chinese billionaire Yang Lanlan, involving a drunk driving incident in Sydney, Australia, was heard for the fourth time at the Downing Centre Local Court on November 14. Yang Lanlan was once again absent, and her lawyer also failed to arrive on time, only appearing at the end of the hearing. The lawyer denied all charges on her behalf, and the hearing has been rescheduled for January 30, 2026.

According to New Tang Dynasty Television, this hearing was primarily procedural, presided over by the court's registrar, and lasted less than five minutes.

Yang Lanlan's representative lawyer, Michael Korn, denied four charges on her behalf, which include: refusal or failure to submit to a breath analysis (first offence), dangerous driving resulting in serious injury to others, failure to provide driver or vehicle information to the police, and negligent driving causing serious injury to others (first offence).

The registrar announced that the next hearing is set for January 30 of next year. Given that the defendant denies all charges, the court has mandated that evidence materials be submitted by January 9 of next year to allow the defence to prepare a response.

At the defence's request, the court also permitted the defendant to be absent from the hearing and formally notified her of the relevant arrangements. Court records indicate that the bail undertaking she signed on July 26 (ID 74794410) remains valid and does not require a new bail application.

In response to Yang Lanlan's fourth absence from the court hearing, Cohen told reporters outside the court, "She has been granted permission to be absent from today's hearing. We are representing her in court." When asked if the defendant was receiving special treatment, he stated, "Absolutely not, this is very normal."

Yang Lanlan is currently facing several charges, including "driving a car but refusing or failing to cooperate with a breath test," "dangerous driving causing serious injury," "failing to provide details to the police," and "negligent driving causing serious injury." Notably, the charge of "dangerous driving causing serious injury" can result in a sentence of up to 7 years in prison, or even harsher penalties, under New South Wales law.

As reported earlier by the Daily Mail, during the last hearing four weeks ago on October 17, Yang Lanlan's luxurious seaside apartment had already been vacated, and her other vehicle, a white Rolls-Royce convertible valued at 800,000 AUD, had also gone missing. Some netizens have raised questions about whether Yang Lanlan is still in Australia. Under her current bail conditions, she is required to surrender her passport and report to the police once a week.

The 23-year-old Yang Lanlan is accused of driving under the influence in the affluent Sydney area of Rose Bay at approximately 3:20 AM on July 26, in a Rolls-Royce worth 1.5 million AUD, driving in the wrong direction and colliding with a Mercedes driven by the driver of Australian host Kyle Sandilands, resulting in serious injuries to the latter.

Yang Lanlan's enigmatic background has consistently drawn public interest, with rumours circulating that she is the daughter of a government official and is involved in clandestine activities, leading to her being referred to as a 'Heavenly Dragon Person.' There are even allegations that she is the illegitimate daughter of Xi Jinping. Her case continues to captivate a large audience, generating discussions on social media and within the local Chinese community. Past hearings have seen dozens of Chinese observers in attendance. △
