[People News] Before Shen Yun has even begun performing in Poland, the excitement is already high. Ticket sales in four cities are nearly sold out, and tickets for the first stop, Toruń, are already extremely hard to come by. Amid eager anticipation from audiences, on December 26, 2025, the Shen Yun Touring Company from the United States arrived in Poland.

When Shen Yun artists appeared at Warsaw Airport, fans dressed in bright traditional ethnic costumes warmly greeted them. They cheered in Chinese, “Welcome, Shen Yun!” “Welcome, Shen Yun!” and presented flowers to the artists. Each bouquet was tied with red-and-white ribbons—the colors of the Polish national flag—representing beautiful wishes from Poland.

Ms. Zhang, a Chinese fan in Poland, said, “Being able to watch a Shen Yun performance is a blessing, because Shen Yun presents true divinely inspired culture. Watching Shen Yun around the New Year adds to the festive atmosphere—there is nothing better than using this to usher in a lucky and auspicious year.”

In 2026, Shen Yun marks the 20th anniversary of its founding. Over the past 20 years, Shen Yun has grown into eight touring companies of equal size, each with its own orchestra. Every year, they present hundreds of performances across five continents, earning countless accolades from audiences worldwide and being hailed as “the world’s number one show.”

During the Christmas and New Year season, four Shen Yun companies will successively tour Europe. Performances in the first stop, France, have already begun, with every show sold out and causing a sensation. Poland is fortunate to welcome the second Shen Yun company to arrive in Europe, followed by Italy and the United Kingdom welcoming different Shen Yun companies, once again recreating the grand scene of four Shen Yun companies touring Europe simultaneously.

Shen Yun Artists “Wholeheartedly Dedicated,” Conveying Light and Hope

Shen Yun performances resonate strongly with audiences around the world. Many viewers are moved to tears during the performance and consider it a must-see in a lifetime. Shen Yun artists say the reason the performances have such an effect is because all Shen Yun artists are “wholeheartedly dedicated.”

Nika Zhang, concertmaster of the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra, said, “We are all wholeheartedly dedicated. For us, this is not just a job—we pour our souls into the performance, because we firmly believe it benefits the world. We convey light and hope to the audience, while also carrying many upright values and traditional spirit. I think these are precisely the elements lacking in today’s society. When audiences watch a two-hour performance and are continuously immersed in this positive energy, it is bound to have a positive impact.”

Speaking of what makes Shen Yun’s music unique, violinist Nika Zhang said, “I think the true uniqueness lies in the fusion of Eastern and Western musical qualities. We emphasize atmosphere and melodic lines—this comes from the essence of Chinese music—while also using Western compositional techniques to present rich harmonic layers, combined with the grandeur and precision of a Western symphony orchestra. When these elements blend together, they create an extremely unique musical experience.”

This is not Nika Zhang’s first time in Poland; she said she had been here eight years ago and is very happy to be able to return to perform this time. “I very much look forward to the audience’s response to the performance. Every year we devote ourselves fully to creating a perfect performance for everyone, and we hope they will enjoy every wonderful moment,” she said.

Sun Hongwei, a principal male dancer of Shen Yun, is also performing in Poland for the second time. Upon hearing the good news of Shen Yun’s booming ticket sales in Poland, he said happily, “I am especially grateful to Polish audiences. This is Shen Yun’s 20th anniversary tour, and I especially thank audiences for their continued support, which allows us to spread true traditional culture around the world. We will bring performances of pure goodness and pure beauty to the audience.”

As a Chinese classical dance artist, Sun Hongwei mentioned what sets Shen Yun’s Chinese classical dance apart: “The special aspect of (Shen Yun’s) Chinese classical dance is its ability to convey the inner spiritual world. We are all Falun Dafa practitioners, and we take ‘Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance’ as our guiding principles in life. Through the form of Chinese classical dance, we pass these beautiful values on to all audiences. I believe that it is because audiences feel these beautiful values that there has been such a strong response.”

He also stated that Shen Yun’s mission to revive traditional Chinese culture is crucial, yet it is also what the Chinese Communist Party fears the most. “Because traditional Chinese culture is divinely inspired culture—whether it is the Confucian gentleman, the Daoist true person, or the Buddhist enlightened being, all represent humanity’s pursuit of higher realms and the elevation of moral character. Communism is exactly the opposite: it instills atheism and destroys and undermines human divinity. That is why the CCP is extremely afraid of Shen Yun performances,” he said.

Shen Yun presents an entirely new program every year. Preparing a production of this scale in about half a year is very challenging, both artists said, but they also welcome such challenges. Nika Zhang said, “As artists, we truly welcome these challenges, because they help us grow and push us to new limits.” Sun Hongwei also said, “This is actually a very good challenge. It gives us excellent opportunities for training and allows us to grow and improve quickly.”

Polish Presenter: Audiences Love Shen Yun and Have Long Been Looking Forward to It

In the 2026 season, Shen Yun will present 14 spectacular performances in the Polish cities of Toruń, Białystok, Łódź, and Lublin. As in the previous season, Poland will again co-host performances in Riga, the capital of Latvia, together with Latvia.

Due to strong ticket sales, Shen Yun has added performances in all four Polish cities. To express their gratitude for Shen Yun’s visit, the Governor of Łódź Province, the Mayor of Łódź, and the Mayor of Toruń have all specially granted “Honorary Patronage” to the Shen Yun performances. In Poland, honorary patronage is mainly awarded to the most important cultural events that are of high artistic standard, well organized, and highly prestigious.

Tomek Kowalski, the Polish presenter, said, “Audiences can hardly wait to see Shen Yun, because tickets for the first performance in Poland were already sold out 45 days before the show. All performances in Białystok sold out by mid-November, followed closely by the first stop city, Toruń, which also sold out completely. Ticket sales in the remaining two cities have exceeded 99 percent, with only a few scattered tickets left. This shows just how much Polish audiences love Shen Yun.”

Shen Yun presents the true traditional culture that existed before communism, which is something Polish audiences particularly cherish. Kowalski said, “This truly resonates with Polish audiences, because we have experienced the darkness of communism and deeply understand the destruction it brings. From the very beginning, Polish audiences have known that Shen Yun allows people to see ‘China before communism,’ which is extremely valuable.”

Shen Yun has many loyal audience members in various places, as well as new viewers who have long admired Shen Yun and always wanted to see it. Małgorzata Jaroszek, a researcher with a permanent mission to the United Nations, came to the airport to pick up her boyfriend and happened to see Shen Yun fans welcoming the troupe. Upon learning that Shen Yun artists were about to arrive in Warsaw, she was extremely excited.

Jaroszek said, “I haven’t seen a Shen Yun performance yet, but I’ve always wanted to. I’ve seen Shen Yun information online and watched many promotional videos—they are so beautiful, and I was deeply moved. I know that they (Shen Yun) present Chinese classical dance and share and spread such precious culture around the world. This is truly meaningful. I will definitely see Shen Yun, and I will also recommend it to my relatives and friends.”

Ms. Zhang, a Chinese fan who has already seen Shen Yun many times, said, “I watch it every year, and every time I am moved to tears. As a Chinese person living abroad, being able to see such a beautiful performance of traditional Chinese culture makes me very proud—especially seeing how much foreigners love Shen Yun, which truly fills me with pride from the bottom of my heart. This is our real Chinese culture, absolutely not the Communist Party’s version. I truly hope everyone can come and see Shen Yun. Thank you to the Shen Yun artists.”

Majo Kowalski, who is still in high school, saw Shen Yun two years ago and is especially looking forward to seeing it again. “The sense of beauty brought by Shen Yun’s dance deeply moved me and touched me profoundly. Those images are forever etched in my heart, and even two years later I still remember them. And I can really feel the kindness of the Shen Yun performers. They portray different characters on stage, and when I see their actions and expressions, I truly hope I can be more like them and possess the qualities they display.”

Paweł Kluz, a Shen Yun fan who came to the airport wearing traditional Polish attire, summed up his reason for loving Shen Yun in one sentence: “Watching Shen Yun is like being in heaven.” He hopes that more people will come to experience this wonderful feeling.
