The incident reportedly began when the government planned to build a funeral home in Shuikou Town, Xinyi City. Initially, how did the government communicate this to the public? They misled everyone by claiming that they were constructing a road named 'Liru Avenue' for land acquisition. Consequently, the foundation was laid, and it wasn't until mid-March that the villagers realized this was not a road but a funeral home! Furthermore, the selected site is only 700 meters from the village and just 600 meters from the local primary school.

Imagine if a crematorium were to be built just a few hundred meters from your home, and your child had to see black smoke every day on the way to school—who could endure that? The villagers felt deceived and believed their environment and feng shui were ruined.
