[People News] Less than three months into his presidency, Trump has been attacking the CCP from multiple angles. He has increased tariffs on Chinese products while simultaneously announcing his commitment to protect Taiwan, treating it as an independent nation and repeatedly crossing the CCP's red lines. In response, the CCP has only allowed its 'inflamed spokesperson' to voice a few objections, seemingly unable to formulate any effective countermeasures, revealing the CCP regime's declining and weak position.
On the afternoon of the 2nd, Eastern Time, U.S. President Trump announced new tariffs in the White House Rose Garden, presenting a chart that detailed the tariff percentages imposed by the U.S. on each country, indicating how much tax each country imposes on the U.S., with the U.S. imposing approximately half of the tariffs.
Among these, the 34% reciprocal tariff on China, when combined with the 20% imposed since Trump took office at the beginning of the year, means that the new tariffs on China will total as high as 54%. Analysts suggest that this move by Trump could lead to a near standstill in U.S.-China trade, potentially halving China's GDP.
Simultaneously, foreign media noted that Taiwan was explicitly categorized as a 'country' in the tariff list released by Trump. Several media outlets speculate that this action may further provoke the CCP.
However, the CCP's response this time has surprised many, as the authorities have yet to issue a strong reaction to Trump's tariffs. The only notable response came from the CCP's ambassador to the U.S., Xie Feng, who took to the X platform to angrily declare: 'Taiwan is China's Taiwan. We will continue to strive for peaceful reunification with the utmost sincerity and effort, but we will never allow any form of 'Taiwan independence' forces to have any space for development.'
Xie Feng's actions have sparked mockery from numerous netizens, who remarked that anything capable of provoking the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its supporters to the point of 'barking like dogs' signifies that it is indeed the right course of action. Comments included: 'It turns out that seeing Taiwan taxed 34% more than themselves is more important,' 'No matter how high the tariffs are, I will endure; Taiwan must belong to me,' 'The CCP government is indifferent to the lives of its people. It only cares about maintaining its own power,' '(If) Taiwan is not a country, then the taxes from Taiwan should be paid by the mainland,' and 'The CCP's high-ranking officials are well aware that stirring up the Taiwan issue will lead to their own disintegration. The only question is whether to use it as a weapon against the United States or to allow their internal divisions to occur first.'
In response, Lin Junxian, a legislator from the Taiwan People's Party, commented: The CCP has misunderstood the focus; it is solely fixated on Taiwan being recognized as a country by the United States. This reveals a mental block within the CCP; it is only concerned with whether Taiwan has become part of it.
