[Dajiyuan] The unidentified flying object that emerged in Xi'an during the thunderstorm on May 2 has generated significant interest. The phrase "Unidentified Flying Object in Xi'an" reached the trending list on major social media platforms on May 4. Eyewitness accounts and various analyses indicate that the phenomenon displayed the following characteristics: a gray-black elongated object appeared in the night sky, moving at an extremely high speed along a winding path. Eyewitnesses described it as "dragon-like," with a flowing tail that reflected light in a scale-like manner under the bright flashes of lightning. Some videos captured at least three similar objects moving simultaneously.
Videos recorded by multiple eyewitnesses show several gray-black elongated objects in the night sky. These objects darted across the sky at a very high speed, twisting and spiralling, measuring approximately 5-8 meters in length and relatively narrow in width, giving a sense of "flowing" at the tail. The objects exhibited a "scale-like reflection" in the bright light of the thunderstorm, which is distinctly different from common shapes such as kites, birds, or plastic bags. "They circled like dragons, with at least three of them."
The incident has sparked intense discussions on social media. Some netizens speculated that they might be drones; however, it is challenging for drones to maintain stable flight in thunderstorm conditions, and there are currently no relevant flight reports available.
