[People News] In early October this year, a video emerged online showing a group of wild boars confidently walking through the streets of an urban area in mainland China. On October 8, the publicity department of Nanchong City's South County in Sichuan Province confirmed that at least ten wild boars had entered the urban area in the early morning, specifically near Woniushan on Jialing Road.

South County is a part of Nanchong City in Sichuan Province, located in the northern region of the Sichuan Basin along the middle reaches of the Jialing River. It lies at the crossroads of National Highway 212 (Lanzhou-Chongqing), Provincial Highway 101 (Chengdu-Nanjiang), 204 (Nanbu-Quxian), and the under-construction Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway, forming an equilateral triangle with Chengdu and Chongqing.

Interestingly, on October 7, many pedestrians strolling along the seaside promenade in Yantian, Shenzhen, were surprised to see a wild boar weighing over a hundred pounds swimming in the bay and trying to come ashore to search for food. Moreover, in recent years, wild boars have also been spotted in various districts of Hong Kong.

What does this signify? In ancient times, it was believed that wild animals entering the city indicated a 'vacuum in the mountains and forests' or an 'imbalance of yin and yang,' which was interpreted as a sign of moral decay among rulers and a breakdown of social order. Additionally, the presence of wild beasts in urban areas is often seen as a harbinger of disaster.

In the Tang Dynasty's "Kaiyuan Zhanjing," Jing Fang remarked: "When wild beasts of various sizes enter a city or the royal court, or appear on major roads, it signifies impending disaster for that place, the ruler's death, and bloodshed. If wild beasts enter a city without cause, occupying the gates of the court, the palace, and the city hall, leaving homes deserted, it foretells that the townspeople will suffer great losses. When wild beasts cry out in unison, it indicates emptiness in the city. If wild beasts traverse the market, it predicts a year of severe misfortune for the area. If wild beasts infiltrate the military, the general is bound to face defeat in battle, necessitating urgent sacrifices to the gods for salvation." "When wild beasts breach the city walls, it suggests that the ministers of the court will be confused, and there will be unrest among the soldiers. If wild beasts ascend the city and enter the palace, the ruler will die within a year."

The overarching message is that when wild beasts gather and invade human-inhabited towns, even entering the political center of the country or the main roads constructed by the government, it foreshadows significant disasters and turmoil. The king or local officials are likely to perish, leading to severe bloodshed.

Wild beasts entering towns without reason, even taking up residence at the gates of the court and within the palace, indicates that the townspeople will face devastation and be left with no one. When wild beasts cry out together, it signifies a void in the town.

When wild beasts pass through the city center, it foretells a year of great misfortune for that area. If wild beasts infiltrate the military, the general is sure to face defeat in battle.

When wild beasts enter the city walls, it suggests that court ministers will be bewildered or in a state of panic, and war or a military coup is likely to erupt soon. If wild beasts invade the ruler's residence, the ruler will die suddenly within a year.

So, what kind of calamity do the wild boars appearing in Nanchong, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen portend for these local areas?
