[People News] On the night of China's annual "3.15 Consumer Rights Day," a political projection once again illuminated the wall of the Chinese Communist Party's consulate in New York. The event's organisers noted that this marked the fourth large-scale projection by the overseas group "China Action" at this consulate, and for the first time, the consulate attempted to block the projection on-site.
According to Radio Free Asia, the event commenced at 8 PM Eastern Time on March 15, near the Chinese Communist Party's consulate in Manhattan, New York. Footage from the scene revealed that shortly after the projection began, several individuals, believed to be consulate security personnel, approached the light source in an effort to obstruct the image. Simultaneously, the lighting system outside the consulate building was activated to disrupt the projection with bright lights.
Su Yutong, a spokesperson for the overseas human rights organisation "China Action," told reporters: "China has a 3.15 Anti-Counterfeiting Day, but the largest counterfeit goods have never been inspected. Their decision to send security personnel to block our lights clearly shows that this beam of light frightens them."
She continued: "A dozen volunteers in the United States had just arrived at the parking lot of the Chinese Communist consulate. We were already being monitored by the other side while parking. Personnel from the consulate came out to check and attempted to interfere with their lighting, but their light was too weak to succeed in obstructing us."
According to the event organisers, the projection lasted several minutes, with the position being adjusted multiple times to avoid strong light interference from the consulate. The New York police were present at the scene but did not intervene in the projection activity.
The content of the projection satirises the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) system.
The organisers stated that this projection was intentionally scheduled for the day of the Chinese '3.15' gala broadcast. The projection employed a simulated 'product testing' approach to conduct a satirical 'quality inspection' of the CCP.
The projection featured four sets of images. (Screenshot from NTD video)
The projection included four sets of images. The first image depicted a cartoon alpaca in protective gear holding a test tube, performing a 'nucleic acid test' on the hammer and sickle logo, which was adorned with a COVID-19 virus pattern. The second image mimicked a product label, identifying four 'ingredients' of the 'Chinese Communist Party' as 'exploitation,' 'dictatorship,' 'lies,' and 'censorship.' The third image overlaid a 'highly toxic' warning sign on the hammer and sickle emblem. The final image showed these related patterns being discarded into a trash bin marked with a biohazard symbol.
Su Yutong stated to reporters: 'From ruling by lies to speech censorship, the CCP is the source of systematic deception in Chinese society. On this day, 3.15, we present our own test report: highly toxic, should be discarded.'
The series of projection actions continues to grow.
This marks the fourth projection event organised by 'China Action' aimed at the Chinese Communist Party's overseas embassies. The first two events took place on November 26, 2025, coinciding with the third anniversary of the White Paper Movement, and on December 10, 2025, which is International Human Rights Day, at the Chinese Consulate in New York. The third event occurred on January 1, 2026, outside the Chinese Embassy in Berlin, Germany.
According to the event organisers, during the earlier actions, the consulate did not send representatives to obstruct the projections; however, this time, security personnel arrived early to block the light source.
'China Action' is a non-profit organisation based in the United States that promotes political reform in China through non-violent means. In 2025, the organisation released the 'Universal Resistance Movement Declaration' in several cities and has conducted projection actions in various locations across North America and Europe.
