[People News] The 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) convened on September 23 (Tuesday) at UN Headquarters in New York. Early in the morning, over a hundred Falun Gong practitioners gathered at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza outside the UN, performing exercises and holding a peaceful appeal. They exposed the CCP’s 26-year-long persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and called on governments to help end this human rights disaster. Former U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, Samuel Brownback, came to the site to show his support for Falun Gong.

Every September during the UN General Assembly, New York Falun Gong practitioners go to UN Headquarters to clarify the truth to world leaders, heads of government, political figures, high-level representatives, and staff. They expose the CCP’s persecution and the CCP’s crimes against humanity, calling on the world to reject the CCP, stop its persecution, and together dismantle the CCP (End CCP).

Falun Gong practitioners practiced the exercises outside UN Headquarters, held banners, distributed flyers, carried out the “End the Evil CCP” petition campaign, and also used car parades as a kind of “mobile Great Wall of Truth.” Slogans on their rooftop billboards read: “Only Without the CCP Can There Be a New China,” “Communism Puts Everyone in Danger,” “Say No to the CCP,” “CCP Virus,” “Stop the CCP’s Transnational Repression”…

Wang Zhiyuan, chairman of the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP, said in an interview: “Falun Gong practitioners are here to tell the truth and to use this opportunity to call on the world to designate the CCP as a state terrorist organization, because it persecutes Falun Gong, committing genocide and crimes against humanity, especially the forced organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners—an evil never before seen in human history. This crime has now spread throughout Chinese society. In recent years, the CCP has extended its reach into the United States, attempting to challenge the international community’s democracy and freedom, directly undermining America’s very foundation—religious freedom—while also threatening the personal safety of American citizens and national security.”

“So today we are once again bringing this truth to the world, calling on all countries to label the CCP as a state terrorist organization, for the entire world to rise up together to encircle, punish, stop, and eliminate the CCP, and usher in for humanity a new world free of evil communism.” Wang said.

Former U.S. Ambassador for Religious Freedom Supports Falun Gong

Samuel Brownback, former U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, went to Dag Hammarskjold Plaza outside UN Headquarters to meet with Falun Gong practitioners doing the exercises. He condemned the CCP’s persecution and expressed support for their defense of freedom of belief. In an interview, he said: “The CCP opposes all religions; it is hostile to religion. The one it fears most is Falun Gong, because Falun Gong is deeply rooted in Chinese culture—it naturally belongs to China.”

Brownback, who also served as a U.S. senator and governor of Kansas and is chairman of the International Religious Freedom Summit, said: “I really like the three words ‘Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.’ They are about being a good person, about the historical legacy of Chinese culture, about a spiritual people.”

Brownback said the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong is destined to fail: “What Falun Gong is doing is bringing back to the Chinese people the spirituality that is inherently theirs. This is a natural part of the Chinese people, but the Communist Party has always suppressed, oppressed, and controlled it. Yet such suppression is doomed to fail. In this war against faith, the CCP ultimately cannot win.”

On the CCP’s attempt to extend persecution into the U.S. through transnational repression, Brownback condemned: “The CCP’s transnational repression is illegal in international society, and we must strongly resist it. This is not only transnational repression, but transnational terrorism, as some have called it. We must stop this. We must do everything possible to hold accountable those involved in transnational repression, because this is in fact CCP-sponsored terrorism.”

Outside UN Headquarters, streams of people saw the banners and slogans, accepted flyers and lotus flowers from Falun Gong practitioners, and signed the “End the Evil CCP” petition.

Ricardo signed the End CCP initiative on Second Avenue and received a lotus flower reading “Falun Dafa is Good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good.” He said in an interview: “I think any act of violating human rights is a violation of everyone’s human rights—not only of the Chinese people, but of people all over the world. So I signed in support.”

Ali Shams, who took a copy of the English Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and signed the End CCP petition, said: “Everyone has the right to practice their faith. The CCP should allow them (Falun Gong practitioners) to practice. They are nonviolent, they are good, so people have the right to practice Falun Gong. No one should hurt them or imprison them.”

At Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, Ricky, reading carefully an End CCP flyer given by practitioners, said in an interview: “The Communist Party is evil, but in China there are many good people. The CCP has killed many innocent people. In China there is no freedom. If you stand up to oppose it, they send tanks to suppress you.” Regarding the CCP’s attempts at transnational repression in the U.S., he said: “They use secret bribery, secretly giving money to carry out these things.”

Democracy Groups Shout: Falun Dafa Is Good

Several Chinese democracy groups protested against the CCP in front of UN Headquarters, shouting slogans such as: “Down with the Chinese Communist Party! CCP, get out of the United Nations! CCP, get out of the United States! CCP, get out of China!” At the same time, they also expressed their support for Falun Gong’s resistance to persecution.

On Tuesday morning, led by democracy activist Ye Rong, members of the China Democracy and Human Rights Alliance, along with democracy activists from California, stood near 43rd Street on Second Avenue, raising their arms and shouting: “Support Falun Gong! Falun Dafa is good!”
